Bugatti Unveils the ”Destrier”: A 1-of-1 Masterpiece Transforming the Bolide into a Pure Sculpture of Elegance
Bugatti has officially revealed its latest bespoke creation, the Destrier, marking the third unique commission under the brand's highly exclusive Solitaire program. The Destrier takes the Bolide—Bugatti’s most extreme track-focused hypercar—and transforms it into a breathtaking work of pure elegance, designed to stand the test of time and take its place among the most significant designs in Bugatti's history.
Named after the most powerful and prized warhorses ridden by medieval knights, the Destrier asks a bold question: What happens when the greatest engineering platform Bugatti has ever built is stripped of its massive wings, louvers, and aggressive aerodynamic additions, allowing it to be appreciated solely through its raw proportions?
The result is a hypercar that sits less than a meter tall—significantly lower than any other Bugatti model. It establishes a completely new stance, swapping the Bolide's 18-inch track wheels for massive 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels that dominate its minimalist, ultra-pure silhouette.
A Tale of Two Expressions on One Chassis
While previous Solitaire creations like the Brouillard and F.K.P. Hommage were deeply rooted in specific historical narratives, the Destrier is primarily a visceral, sculptural masterpiece where design takes absolute priority.
Built upon the Bolide's carbon-fiber monocoque, the Destrier writes a new chapter in Bugatti's design lexicon. The brand's signature 'C-line' is reinterpreted, stopping just before the front wheel arch to expose the raw chassis before continuing to meet a widened, more restrained horseshoe grille. At the rear, an elegantly integrated spoiler channels the sophistication of the Chiron Profilée.
Bugatti honors its heritage by drawing a parallel to the legendary Type 57 chassis, which famously birthed both the Le Mans-winning Type 57G Tank and the beautiful Type 57SC Atlantic. A laser-engraved dedication plaque above the Destrier's windshield immortalizes this historical connection, depicting both classic models side-by-side.
"Destrier is not a car you understand with your mind, but one you feel with your heart," said Frank Heyl, Bugatti’s Director of Design. "By liberating the Bolide from its relentless pursuit of downforce, we allowed these extreme proportions to speak as a pure sculpture. I believe the Destrier will shine on the lawns of Concours d'Elegance events 50 years from now."

Haute Couture Interior Meets W16 Power
Inside, the Destrier sheds the Bolide's stark racing cockpit in favor of an haute couture-inspired cabin. The bespoke interior is defined by "Ambre Voyageur" leather and nubuck—a timeless, warm brown—complemented by an advanced 3D-knit fabric. Woven with copper threads, this fabric creates a seamless, three-dimensional surface that merges technical innovation with sensory luxury, accented by a circular "halo-line" motif and custom contrast stitching.
Beneath its sculptured exterior lies the Bolide’s untamed powertrain: Bugatti’s legendary 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine delivering a staggering 1,600 horsepower. However, true to the spirit of the world's great Concours winners, the Destrier's narrative is ultimately defined by its unparalleled craftsmanship and aesthetic purity rather than absolute track performance. The vehicle's exclusivity is further cemented by a bespoke oil filler cap bearing the Destrier logo and a "1/1" engraving.
