‏MCIT Participates in Shabab Balad Working Group Meeting, NOMU Al-Ghurair Design Workshop

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) participated in two consecutive events on July 29 and 30 in the framework of the national youth empowerment initiative "Shabab Balad," the Egyptian version of the United Nations' Generation Unlimited (GenU) initiative.

The first event was a meeting of the working group on enhancing access to technological and digital services, one of five technical groups formed under Shabab Balad Coalition and operating under the initiative's Advisory Board. The meeting, held in Cairo, discussed proposals aimed at expanding youth access to connectivity and digital services.

On July 30, MCIT participated in the NOMU Al-Ghurair Program’s Design Workshop, held in Cairo under the umbrella of Shabab Balad. The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in partnership with the United Nations and Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation.

The event brought together government officials, private sector employers, training and skills development providers, entrepreneurship support actors, civil society organizations, and youth representatives to co-design an end-to-end, labor-market-anchored Learning-to-Earning model for Egyptian youth. Participants examined Egypt's labor market priorities across sectors with high demand for skilled workers, reviewed the national youth profile and priorities related to empowerment and skilling, and worked to identify the NOMU Al-Ghurair pathways of highest relevance to Egypt's youth.

Shabab Balad is a flagship national initiative aimed at empowering Egyptian youth aged 10–24 and strengthening their transition from education to employment and meaningful participation in society. It was launched under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during the World Youth Forum 2022, in collaboration with the United Nations.
