Engineering Export Council Launches EBS 2026 Mission, Targeting $7.5 Billion in Exports

The Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EEC) organized the third edition of the International Buyers Mission (EBS 2026), as part of its overarching strategy to boost Egyptian exports and unlock new global markets for engineering products. The mission features the participation of 20 Egyptian companies and hosts approximately 48 international buyers representing 20 countries, focusing primarily on the energy, electricity, and cables sectors.

The EBS activities were toured by Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, and Eng. Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry, who attended on behalf of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly. The tour was also attended by a host of senior officials, including Eng. Essam Al-Naggar, Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC); Eng. Hussein Al-Ghazawy, Advisor to the Minister of Industry for Energy Affairs; Commercial Minister Plenipotentiary Alaa El-Baily, Head of the Egypt Expo and Convention Authority (EECA); and Hatem El-Nawawy, Head of the Export Development Fund and the Export Development Authority.

Eng. Sherif El-Sayyad, Chairman of the Engineering Export Council, stated that the mission is one of the most vital mechanisms the Council relies on to support Egyptian companies. By hosting major international importers and buyers in Egypt, the initiative allows them to closely examine the manufacturing capabilities of local factories. It also facilitates direct bilateral (B2B) meetings and organizes field visits to manufacturing facilities, which accelerates contract closures and increases the market penetration of Egyptian products abroad.

El-Sayyad emphasized that the Council is pressing forward with an ambitious plan to expand into foreign markets through trade missions and buyer hosting, viewing these as the most effective tools for securing direct export contracts. He revealed that the Council targets raising engineering industry exports to approximately $7.5 billion during 2026 by expanding into promising markets and diversifying export destinations.

He further added that the EEC is highly focused on increasing the value-add of Egyptian engineering products and enhancing their competitiveness. The Council actively encourages companies to participate in international exhibitions and host trade delegations to sustain export growth and solidify Egypt's position as a regional hub for engineering industries.

El-Sayyad highlighted that the EBS 2026 mission is part of a broader series of events organized by the Council this year to maximize exports, forge new trade partnerships, and increase the global footprint of Egyptian engineering products, aligning seamlessly with the state's strategy to raise export rates and the industrial sector's contribution to the national economy.

During his address, Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, affirmed that the national companies participating in the EBS mission represent a fundamental pillar of the Egyptian economy. He stressed the state’s unwavering commitment to providing all forms of support to enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian exports and facilitate their access to global markets.

The Minister noted that he immediately approved the concept of the event upon its proposal, reflecting a deep belief in the critical role of exhibitions and trade missions in opening new markets for local products. He reiterated that the Ministry of Investment and its affiliated bodies are primarily dedicated to serving the business community and assisting companies in overcoming operational challenges.

For his part, Eng. Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry, confirmed that the engineering sector is exceptionally vital and possesses the robust capabilities required to achieve an export breakthrough. He assured that the state is keen to fulfill the operational needs of these companies within the bounds of the law, pointing out that various state entities are aligned to provide the necessary support for their foreign expansion.

The Minister praised the extensive participation of Egyptian companies and the collaborative spirit among all organizing bodies, expressing absolute confidence in the Egyptian industry's ability to achieve further milestones and boost export volumes in the upcoming phase.

The event successfully facilitated approximately 800 direct matchmaking meetings between participating Egyptian companies and international buyers, setting the stage for concluding substantial export contracts and forging long-term partnerships across the participating nations.
