US Dollar Drops Below EGP 49 Across Most Egyptian Banks in Broad Sell-Off

The US dollar exchange rate against the Egyptian pound witnessed a collective decline during Sunday's trading session, dropping below the EGP 49 mark in the majority of banks operating in the Egyptian market. This broad downward wave pushed the lowest buying price down to EGP 48.80, while overall buying rates fluctuated between EGP 48.80 and EGP 49.25, and selling rates ranged between EGP 48.90 and EGP 49.35.

The lowest dollar rates were recorded at Egyptian Gulf Bank (EG Bank) and Commercial International Bank (CIB), where the currency stood at EGP 48.80 for buying and EGP 48.90 for selling, marking a clear decline in both banks compared to the previous session's close.

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) recorded EGP 48.85 for buying and EGP 48.95 for selling, continuing its downward trajectory throughout today’s trading.

Meanwhile, Bank Next, Industrial Development Bank (IDB), The United Bank, Al Baraka Bank, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), and Faisal Islamic Bank all hovered around the EGP 48.90 buying and EGP 49.00 selling levels, with each institution registering a drop compared to earlier transactions.

Bank of Alexandria recorded EGP 48.93 for buying and EGP 49.03 for selling as the dollar continued its decline.

Similarly, HSBC, Arab African International Bank (AAIB), Arab International Bank (AIB), and Kuwait Finance House (KFH) all posted EGP 48.95 for buying and EGP 49.05 for selling, reflecting a collective retreat across these institutions.

State-owned giants National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and Banque Misr, alongside Crédit Agricole, stood at EGP 48.96 for buying and EGP 49.06 for selling following a fresh drop in their dollar pricing.

Société Arabe Internationale de Banque (SAIB) and Suez Canal Bank registered EGP 49.00 for buying and EGP 49.10 for selling, declining from their previous session's closing rates.

Holding steady without change, Midbank and Egyptian Arab Land Bank quoted EGP 49.08 for buying and EGP 49.18 for selling.

In contrast to the prevailing bearish sentiment, Emirates NBD, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), and Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK) ticked slightly higher, recording EGP 49.10 for buying and EGP 49.20 for selling.

Housing and Development Bank (HDB) topped the list with the highest dollar rates during today's trading, holding stable and unchanged at EGP 49.25 for buying and EGP 49.35 for selling.
