Eng. Rafat Hindi Discusses with the Minister of Information, Communication of the Republic of Rwanda to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the fields of digital transformation,
Eng. Rafat Hindi, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, received Ms. Paula Injaberi, Minister of Information, Communications and Innovation Technology of the Republic of Rwanda, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between Egypt and Rwanda in the fields of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and digital capacity building, in the presence of Ambassador Dan Muñoza, Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The meeting discussed cooperation in formulating a common African vision for artificial intelligence that is responsible and comprehensive and focused on achieving development, in addition to implementing experimental projects based on artificial intelligence technologies in a number of priority areas, including health care, agriculture, local languages, and government services, in order to achieve tangible and measurable results.
They also discussed building frameworks for cooperation between government entities, universities, research bodies and innovation centers in the two countries, including Misr University of Informatics, the Applied Innovation Center, and the Institute of Information Technology, as well as enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences in the field of digital government.
It was agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding between the two ministries in the coming period to enhance joint cooperation in the fields of communications and information technology.
During the meeting, Eng. Rafat Hindi, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, stressed Egypt's keenness to strengthen cooperation with African countries in the field of artificial intelligence and take advantage of the opportunities offered by these technologies in supporting digital transformation efforts within the continent. He pointed to Egypt's efforts to advance joint African action in the field of artificial intelligence, through its participation in the African Union Artificial Intelligence Working Group, and its contributions to the working groups of the Artificial Intelligence Council of the Smart Africa Alliance. He expressed his aspiration to strengthen cooperation with the Republic of Rwanda in the fields of communications and information technology, especially artificial intelligence and joint work to expand the scope of its uses in a way that contributes to In supporting development efforts and serving the African continent, he pointed out that Egypt has made remarkable progress in this field in light of the implementation of the national strategy for artificial intelligence, which is based on integrated axes aimed at expanding the employment of artificial intelligence applications in various sectors, and preparing specialized cadres in this field.
For her part, Ms. Paula Ingaberi, Minister of Information, Communications and Innovation Technology of the Republic of Rwanda, stressed her country's keenness to strengthen cooperation with Egypt in the field of communications and information technology, in light of the close relations between the two countries, pointing out the importance of focusing on joint cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital transformation and digital skills development.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance joint coordination in regional and international forums concerned with artificial intelligence governance, which contributes to the crystallization of common African positions towards related issues.
The role of the Applied Innovation Center in the development and application of innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence technologies to serve the community was also reviewed, in addition to the programs and initiatives of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the fields of building digital capacity, supporting technological creativity and independent professionals. The efforts of the Institute of Information Technology in the preparation and rehabilitation of cadres and the development of digital skills, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, were highlighted.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Olivier Touageraizo, Director of the Rwanda Center for the Expansion of Artificial Intelligence in the Republic of Rwanda, Dr. Huda Baraka, Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology for the Development of Technological Skills, Dr. Heba Saleh, President of the Institute of Information Technology, Dr. Ahmed Tantawi, Supervisor of the Applied Innovation Center, Ambassador Khaled Taha, Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology for International Relations Affairs, Ms. Samah Aziz, Head of the Central Department of International Relations at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and a number of the ministry's leaders.
