Egypt Makes Historic Debut at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026 with First Dedicated Startup Pavilion

Egypt has officially inaugurated its first-ever national pavilion at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026, showcasing 10 of its most promising technology startups to the Asian market. The delegation, led by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), highlights Egypt’s burgeoning role as a regional hub for digital innovation. The pavilion received a high-profile visit from H.E. Ambassador Ragui ElEtreby, Egypt’s Ambassador to Japan, and Ms. Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo, underscoring the strategic weight of Egyptian-Japanese technological cooperation.

Under the Project NINJA (Next Innovation with Japan) framework, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between Egyptian ingenuity and Japanese capital. Eng. Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of ITIDA, stated that this participation is a "pivotal step" in unlocking growth opportunities within the high-value Japanese market. With over $2.1 billion raised in VC funding between 2020 and 2025 and total exit values reaching $7.4 billion, Egypt’s ecosystem is demonstrating a level of maturity that positions it as a primary gateway for investors eyeing the Middle East and Africa.
