Egypt Showcases National AI Governance Framework at D-8 Workshop for Sustainable Tourism
The Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) participated in a high-level technical workshop organized by the Developing-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8), focusing on AI governance within the tourism sector. Following the mandates of the 2025 Cairo Declaration, Egypt presented its strategic roadmap for integrating Artificial Intelligence into tourism infrastructure while ensuring ethical and responsible deployment. The workshop convened representatives from member states to align policies and bridge digital readiness gaps, particularly for SMEs in the travel industry.
Egyptian officials highlighted the nation’s advanced AI governance framework, which serves as a blueprint for trustworthy and generative AI usage. A key highlight was the unveiling of the 2026 Governance Roadmap, which includes the launch of a specialized laboratory for auditing responsible AI and a digital tool for assessing AI readiness in both public and private sectors. The workshop concluded with a consensus on developing unified ethical guidelines to prevent algorithmic bias in pricing and to ensure data transparency across digital tourism platforms.
