Tesla Deploys Fully Autonomous Robotaxis in Dallas and Houston Ahead of Q1 2026 Earnings
Tesla Inc. has officially launched its fully autonomous robotaxi service in Dallas and Houston, marking its first major expansion outside of Austin and the San Francisco Bay Area. This strategic move comes just days before Tesla is set to release its Q1 2026 financial results, where analysts expect revenues between $21.4 billion and $21.9 billion. By deploying driverless vehicles in two of Texas's largest metropolitan hubs, Tesla aims to demonstrate the commercial viability of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology and reassure investors of its lead in the autonomous mobility race.
The expansion is part of an ambitious roadmap to hit seven US cities—including Phoenix, Miami, and Las Vegas—by the end of the first half of 2026. While Tesla has remained tight-lipped regarding fleet size and pricing structures, the move places it in direct competition with Alphabet’s Waymo, which already operates extensively in these regions. As the market awaits the 2026 debut of the dedicated "Cybercab," this rollout serves as a critical test of Tesla’s ability to scale autonomous services into a high-margin business segment.
