CITRA Grants Starlink Official License to Launch Satellite Internet Services in Kuwait
CITRA, the Kuwait Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority, has officially licensed Starlink to offer its satellite internet services in the Kuwaiti market.
According to a statement released to KUNA, the license follows Starlink’s fulfillment of all regulatory and technical requirements set by CITRA, ensuring full compliance with Kuwait’s telecommunications laws and spectrum regulations.
The introduction of low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite technologies is expected to provide users with high-speed, low-latency internet, boosting competition in Kuwait’s telecom sector and offering consumers modern and diverse connectivity options.
CITRA also highlighted its role in promoting direct investment, facilitating Starlink’s market entry, and emphasizing the importance of public-private cooperation to ensure the success of this strategic step.
Starlink will begin offering devices and services to consumers once final technical and procedural arrangements are completed, aiming to enhance user experience and improve the quality of satellite internet services in the country.
This development aligns with Kuwait’s broader efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure, adopt advanced telecommunications technologies, and support the growth of the national digital economy.
