DiDi Egypt Highlights Ramadan Mobility Trends and Growing Role of Women Riders

Mobility patterns across Egypt are shifting during the holy month of Ramadan, with increasing demand for flexible ride options and a growing presence of women riders on digital transportation platforms, according to new data released by DiDi Egypt in conjunction with International Women’s Day.

Latest insights from the platform show that flexibility and accessibility have become key priorities for riders navigating busy schedules that combine work commitments, iftar gatherings, and late-night social visits throughout the month.

Movement across Egyptian cities typically follows a distinctive rhythm during Ramadan, as residents travel between workplaces, family gatherings, and evening outings. Data from DiDi Egypt indicates that the company’s “Flex” product line accounted for 58 percent of all rides during Ramadan as of March 6, marking a noticeable increase from 53 percent recorded during Ramadan 2025.

The growth reflects riders’ rising preference for adaptable and cost-efficient mobility solutions during one of the busiest social seasons of the year.

Travel demand patterns have also revealed shifts in weekly ride activity. While Thursday was the busiest day for rides during Ramadan 2025, early indicators from Ramadan 2026 show Wednesday emerging as the most active day on the platform. Ride volumes on Wednesdays have increased by approximately 10 percent compared with last year’s peak day, suggesting subtle changes in how people schedule social visits and gatherings during the holy month.

These evolving mobility trends coincide with the growing role of women riders on the platform. According to DiDi Egypt, women currently represent more than 56 percent of total riders in the country, highlighting the increasing reliance on digital ride-hailing services among female passengers.

Recent rider experience surveys conducted by the company also point to strong satisfaction levels among women users. More than four in five women riders - about 82 percent - said they are consistently able to successfully hail a ride through the app. Meanwhile, 79 percent reported that vehicles are clean and well maintained, and 81 percent said estimated pickup times are reasonable.

The findings underscore the importance of safety, reliability, and convenience in shaping women’s transportation choices across urban centers in Egypt.

Combined, these insights illustrate how mobility habits continue to evolve during culturally significant periods such as Ramadan and International Women’s Day. As Egyptians balance work schedules, family gatherings, and social engagements throughout the holy month, DiDi Egypt says it remains focused on providing flexible and accessible mobility solutions to support riders’ daily journeys across the country.
