Nvidia Asks TSMC to Boost Chip Supply Amid Surging Global AI Demand

Nvidia has requested Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) to increase its supply of advanced chips, as demand for artificial intelligence technologies continues to accelerate alongside Nvidia’s global expansion in data centers and advanced computing.

Jensen Huang, Chief Executive Officer of Nvidia, said the company’s business has been growing steadily month after month, driven by strong demand for AI accelerators. He emphasized that Nvidia is actively strengthening partnerships across its supply chain to ensure long-term stability and resilience.

Huang noted that Nvidia’s key AI chip memory suppliers — SK Hynix, Samsung Electronics, and Micron Technology — have significantly expanded their production capacities to support the company’s rapid growth and meet rising global demand.

In turn, TSMC CEO C.C. Wei confirmed that Nvidia has formally requested increased chip volumes during recent discussions. Wei added that TSMC continues to expect record-breaking sales, despite ongoing constraints in manufacturing capacity.

He explained that production capacity remains tight relative to demand, prompting TSMC to accelerate investments and expansion plans at its advanced semiconductor fabrication facilities to narrow the supply-demand gap.

The developments come at a time when technology stocks have experienced noticeable declines, amid growing investor skepticism over the scale and sustainability of AI-related spending, with Nvidia shares facing increased bearish bets. Nevertheless, Nvidia remains the world’s most valuable publicly listed company by market capitalization.

Industry leaders believe that artificial intelligence demand is still in its early stages, with long-term economic and technological impacts expected to exceed current market expectations, as global competition intensifies to secure advanced semiconductor supply.
