How and Where to Submit Your 2025 Tax Return: Egyptian Tax Authority Explains
The Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) has clarified the procedures and platforms for submitting 2025 tax returns, as the filing season officially begins on January 1, 2026. The move follows Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk’s directives to simplify processes for taxpayers and encourage voluntary compliance.
Rasha Abdel Aal, Head of the ETA, confirmed that all tax returns can be submitted electronically, eliminating the need to visit local tax offices. This digital approach saves time, reduces effort, and prevents crowding at government offices.
Taxpayers affiliated with specialized tax centers—including the First and Second Large Taxpayers Centers, Major Professions Center in Cairo, and other regional centers in Alexandria, Hurghada, and Upper Egypt—must submit their returns via the ETA’s Main Tax Business System: www.eta.gov.eg.
Other taxpayers should file their returns through the Electronic Tax Services Portal: https://eservice.incometax.gov.eg/etax.
Abdel Aal emphasized that the platforms have been upgraded to be user-friendly and secure, with continuous technical support to assist taxpayers throughout the filing period, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
The ETA also provides a comprehensive support plan, including:
-
Free workshops to educate taxpayers and accountants on electronic filing procedures.
-
Assistance teams at local tax offices.
-
Support committees in professional associations, chambers of commerce, and civil society organizations.
-
A dedicated hotline for inquiries: 16395.
These initiatives are part of the ETA’s digital transformation strategy, aiming to simplify procedures, enhance transparency, and encourage voluntary compliance. By reducing paper-based transactions, the system ensures faster verification, accurate data, and improved efficiency within tax administrations.
The ETA stressed that submitting returns via official digital channels reflects a true partnership between the government and taxpayers, supporting ongoing tax reforms and providing a tax experience centered on technical support and awareness, rather than penalties.
