Turkish Airlines Opens Its First European Lounge Abroad at Edinburgh Airport
Turkish Airlines has officially opened its first European lounge outside Türkiye at Edinburgh Airport, marking a significant milestone in the carrier’s international expansion and bringing its globally acclaimed hospitality to travelers in Scotland.

The new lounge enhances Edinburgh Airport’s premium travel offering while reinforcing its growing role as a key international gateway. The opening was celebrated during a special event hosted by Turkish Airlines at Edinburgh International Airport on 10 December, marking the airline’s eighth lounge worldwide located outside Türkiye.
As the flag carrier of Türkiye and the airline flying to more countries than any other, Turkish Airlines continues to extend the experience of its award-winning five-star lounge at its Istanbul hub to key international destinations, ensuring a consistent and seamless premium experience for its passengers.

Spanning 673 square meters and accommodating up to 149 guests, the Edinburgh lounge offers a refined and comfortable environment. Facilities include an open buffet featuring Turkish pide service during lunch and dinner, a luxury relaxation area equipped with televisions and high-speed Wi-Fi, and two dedicated prayer rooms. Additional amenities include an accessible restroom for guests with reduced mobility, a baby care room, and flight information display screens.
Commenting on the opening, M. Akif Konar, Chief Operations Officer of Turkish Airlines, said that the launch of the Edinburgh lounge represents an important milestone for the airline. He noted that, as the carrier’s first lounge abroad in Europe and its eighth outside Türkiye, the investment underscores Turkish Airlines’ strong commitment to its European operations, where it already maintains a leading presence as Europe’s best airline, according to multiple Skytrax awards. He added that the airline will continue to expand its footprint across the region while bringing its award-winning hospitality closer to travelers.
Stephanie Wear, Chief Commercial Officer at Edinburgh International Airport, welcomed the opening, stating that the new Turkish Airlines Lounge marks an exciting chapter for both the airport and the airline. She highlighted that the lounge demonstrates Turkish Airlines’ commitment to enhancing the passenger experience, offering travelers a relaxing space with runway views and high-quality food and beverage options ahead of their flights.
Located on Level 2 near Gate 16, the lounge is open to Turkish Airlines Business Class passengers; Miles&Smiles Elite, Elite Plus, and Elite Corporate Club members traveling in any class; holders of the Miles&Smiles Premier Visa Signature Card issued in the United States; as well as guests with a paid lounge membership.
