Fawry Partners with Banque Misr to Launch Apple Pay for Egyptian Customers
Fawry, Egypt’s leading fintech company, has announced the launch of Apple Pay in collaboration with Banque Misr, providing customers with a safer, more secure, and private way to pay using their iPhone and Apple Watch.
With Apple Pay, Fawry users can complete transactions seamlessly without handing over their payment cards, touching physical buttons, or exchanging cash — leveraging the advanced security and convenience features built into Apple devices.
Customers can simply hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a payment terminal to make contactless payments. Each transaction is authenticated through Face ID, Touch ID, or a device passcode, along with a unique, one-time security code for added protection. Apple Pay is widely accepted across grocery stores, pharmacies, taxis, restaurants, cafes, retail outlets, and more.
In addition to in-store payments, Apple Pay allows customers to make faster, more convenient purchases in apps and on the web via Safari, without the need to create new accounts or re-enter payment details. This simplifies payments for online shopping, food delivery, transportation, parking, and other services. Apple Pay is also available for use in apps on Apple Watch.
Security and privacy remain central to the Apple Pay experience. When customers use a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card number is neither stored on the device nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element, a certified chip designed to protect payment information on the device.
Setting up Apple Pay is quick and easy. On iPhone, users simply open the Wallet app, tap the “+” icon, and follow the steps to add their myfawry yellowcard.
