Gold jewelry outlets across the country reported steady demand for 21-karat gold, which continues to dominate sales in both Upper and Lower Egypt, while 18-karat gold remains particularly popular in Greater Cairo.
Gold Prices in Local Markets
21-karat gold: EGP 4,845 for buying and EGP 4,825 for selling, excluding tax and workmanship fees.
24-karat gold: EGP 5,537 for buying and EGP 5,514 for selling.
18-karat gold: EGP 4,153 for buying and EGP 4,136 for selling.
Gold Coins
Gold pound (guinea): EGP 38,760 for buying and EGP 38,600 for selling.
Global Market
On international exchanges, the ounce of gold traded at $3,562 for buying and $3,561.5 for selling.
