Huawei Egypt, Arab Academy Launch ICT Academy Support Center During First Arab AI Forum

Huawei Egypt has signed a cooperation protocol with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) to establish the Huawei ICT Academy Support Center (IASC), a new platform designed to support and expand ICT Academies across Egypt.

The signing took place during the First Annual Arab AI Forum, in the presence of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, and H.E. Dr. Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology. The agreement was signed by Mr. Dou Yong, Senior Vice President of Huawei Technologies, and Professor Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of AASTMT, with senior officials including Dr. Khaled Hanafy, Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers, and Eng. Asmaa Serag, Managing Director of Huawei ICT Academy Egypt, in attendance.

The IASC will serve as a hub to strengthen the operation of existing academies, facilitate the creation of new ones, and cultivate ICT talent in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and its digital transformation agenda.

Professor Abdel Ghaffar said the new center represents a milestone in the Academy’s efforts to prepare youth for the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. “It will enable our students to obtain internationally recognized certifications, opening up wide-ranging career opportunities,” he noted.

Mr. Dou Yong highlighted Huawei’s long-standing partnership with Egypt: “For 25 years, Huawei has proudly served as a digital enabler and trusted partner to the Egyptian market. The new ICT Academy Support Center marks a new chapter in our collaboration, creating opportunities for students to earn global certifications and pursue real-world careers.”

Huawei also participated in the forum’s panel discussion on the role of the private sector in advancing the Arab AI Initiative, where Eng. Medhat Mahmoud, Chief Digital Transformation for Northern Africa at Huawei Enterprise, emphasized the need to localize AI to reflect regional culture and values. He outlined Huawei’s three-pillar approach: expanding AI capabilities through Egypt’s first Huawei-built Public Cloud, tailoring AI solutions to sector-specific needs, and nurturing talent through programs such as the ICT Talent Bank.

Huawei has already trained more than 50,000 ICT professionals in Egypt and enabled tens of thousands of developers through its Huawei Cloud platform. With the launch of the IASC and advanced digital centers in Egypt, Huawei reaffirmed its long-term commitment to empowering digital talent, driving innovation, and supporting sustainable growth in the era of AI.
