NTRA Urges Affected Users to File Complaints if Compensation Was Not Received

Thursday 24 July 2025 11:47

Mohamed Ibrahim, Head of Community Engagement at the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), confirmed that all four telecom operators in Egypt are obligated to implement the compensation measures mandated by the authority for customers affected by recent service disruptions.

In an exclusive statement to Technotime, Ibrahim stated that any customer who experienced a service outage and has not received compensation should first contact their operator’s customer service. If the issue is not resolved, the customer is encouraged to file a complaint directly with the NTRA.

The NTRA recently approved additional compensation for fixed internet users affected by the outage that followed the fire at the Ramses Central Exchange. These compensations are part of the authority’s efforts to alleviate the impact of the incident and to protect user rights.

Details of the compensation include:

– Prepaid fixed internet users will receive 50 percent of their basic package as an additional free quota.
– Postpaid customers will receive a 30 percent discount on their monthly bill.

The NTRA affirmed its ongoing commitment to monitoring the quality of telecommunications and internet services, while continuing to coordinate with service providers to ensure service continuity and prevent similar incidents in the future.
