Gold Prices Hold Steady in Egypt Despite Global Surge in Ounce Value

Gold prices in Egypt remained relatively stable on Sunday, even as the global price of gold soared to $3,336 per ounce, reflecting heightened investor demand. Locally, the exchange rate used by jewelers—commonly referred to as the “Gold Dollar”—stood at EGP 49.4.
Here’s a breakdown of gold prices across major karats in the Egyptian market:
Local Gold Prices – Sunday, July 6

The local market stability comes amid global upward pressure on gold, driven by renewed economic uncertainties and demand for safe-haven assets. Traders in Egypt appear to be cautiously watching international markets while maintaining steady pricing domestically.
Meanwhile, the US dollar exchange rate remained unchanged in local banks. At Banque Misr, the dollar was trading at EGP 49.31 for buying and EGP 49.41 for selling.
