The Housing and Development Bank (HDB) has launched a breast cancer awareness initiative in cooperation with the Baheya Foundation for Early Detection and Treatment of Breast Cancer, as part of its activities marking Pink October.

The initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to promoting health awareness and creating a supportive workplace environment that prioritizes employees’ well-being.

Awareness Sessions and Early Screening

As part of the initiative, HDB organized awareness sessions for its female employees covering the importance of early breast cancer detection, associated risk factors, and preventive measures.

The sessions also addressed the proper method of conducting breast self-examinations and highlighted signs that require medical consultation.

Female employees were also given the opportunity to undergo early screening, encouraging them to adopt appropriate preventive health practices and strengthen their awareness of breast cancer prevention.

Supporting Employee Well-Being

The initiative is aligned with HDB’s 2025–2030 strategy, which focuses on creating a supportive and motivating workplace while placing employees’ health and quality of life among the bank’s priorities.

HDB said its investment in its human capital extends beyond professional development to include supporting employees’ health and safety and encouraging healthy practices.

The bank considers employee well-being an important factor in enhancing engagement and effectiveness and supporting the implementation of its strategic objectives and sustainable growth.

HDB Expands Cooperation with Baheya

The initiative builds on the ongoing cooperation between HDB and the Baheya Foundation.

As part of this partnership, the bank is supporting the establishment of an integrated operating suite at Baheya Hospital bearing the bank’s name.

The facility includes two fully equipped operating rooms based on closed-capsule technology, with HDB’s total contributions reaching approximately EGP 21 million.

The contribution is intended to support surgical procedures for breast cancer patients and strengthen the hospital’s capacity to provide medical and treatment services.

The partnership reflects HDB’s continued commitment to supporting healthcare initiatives and contributing to community development.
