EG-ATRC Organizes Smart Cities Telecom Infrastructure Training for 41 Participants from 31 Countries
The Egyptian African Telecom Regulatory Training Center (EG-ATRC), affiliated with Egypt’s National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), has organized an online training course focused on “Smart Cities Telecom Infrastructure” in cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Academy.
The course brought together 41 trainees representing 31 countries and addressed key aspects of developing and implementing smart cities, including smart city concepts, policies and governance, readiness assessment, telecommunications infrastructure, access networks, and smart city applications.
The training also covered the Internet of Things (IoT), the integration of different smart city components, and international experiences in smart city development.
The initiative is part of NTRA’s efforts to strengthen capacity building and develop ICT-related human resources at both the regional and international levels.
The international participation highlights EG-ATRC’s growing role as a regional platform for specialized training, knowledge exchange, and expertise sharing in the ICT sector.
EG-ATRC is Africa’s first training center dedicated to telecommunications regulation and is part of the ITU Academy Training Centers (ATCs) network. Through its programs, the center supports African regulators in addressing industry challenges and developing the expertise required to support the region’s growing digital economy.
