Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has expanded digital support for Al-Noor School for the Visually Impaired in Beni Suef by supplying the school with advanced computers, assistive technologies, and high-speed internet connectivity.

The newly provided equipment is designed to make digital learning more accessible and help visually impaired students use educational technologies more independently.

The support comes following an inspection visit by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindi to the school during his visit to Beni Suef in May. The visit included a review of the school’s existing technological facilities and the students’ needs, leading to directives to enhance the technology available at the school.

Through the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities and other relevant entities, MCIT supplied the school with five modern computers compatible with assistive software. Headsets were also provided to support the use of screen readers and voice-command functions.

The school also received a fifth-generation Braille printer capable of producing up to 140 characters per second and printing Braille graphics. Additional equipment included a multifunction printer and two projectors intended to support students with low vision.

As part of the infrastructure upgrade, Telecom Egypt provided high-speed internet services to improve students’ access to online educational materials, digital resources, and assistive applications.

The initiative is part of MCIT’s efforts to promote inclusive digital education and expand access to assistive technologies for people with visual disabilities, supporting their participation in education and enabling greater independence in accessing digital content.
