Egyptian Fintech ”octo” Joins EBRD’s Star Venture Program to Accelerate Growth
Egyptian digital payments startup octo has officially joined the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Star Venture program. The intensive 24-month initiative is designed to support high-potential, innovative startups by providing a comprehensive ecosystem of specialized consulting, operational support, and access to a vast international network of mentors and venture capitalists.
Co-Founder and CEO Karl Marcou emphasized that leveraging the EBRD’s expertise will be instrumental in refining octo’s business model and enhancing its operational, commercial, and investment readiness for future expansion. Founded in 2021, octo provides a suite of digital financial services—including peer-to-peer transfers, card management, bill payments, and corporate payroll solutions—aimed at advancing financial inclusion.
