Egypt”s Housing Ministry Opens Reservations for 25,000 Rent and Rent-to-Own Units
The Egyptian Ministry of Housing has announced the opening of reservations for 25,000 new housing units under "rent" and "rent-to-own" systems, starting from September 20 to October 28, 2026. This step aligns with plans to diversify housing provision mechanisms to suit the financial capabilities and social needs of citizens.
The ministry stated that the offering includes 15,000 units for low-income citizens as part of the presidential initiative "Housing for All Egyptians 9," and 10,000 units under the "rent-to-own" system through the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA).
NUCA is offering 10,000 units, comprising 5,000 completed units and another 5,000 scheduled for construction, featuring various areas and distributed across approximately 26 new cities.
Applications for the completed units will be available via the "Maskan" portal from September 20 to October 19, 2026, in accordance with the terms and conditions outlined in the specifications booklet.
The sizes of the completed units range between 57 and 161 square meters. They are located in cities including New Cairo, 15th of May, Badr, El Shorouk, New Obour, New 6th of October, New Borg El Arab, New Alamein, New Damietta, Sadat, 10th of Ramadan, New Mansoura, and New Aswan, among others.
As for the units slated for construction, they will be distributed across eight new cities: New 6th of October, New Obour, New Borg El Arab, New Alamein, Hadaeq El-Ashir, Sadat, New Minya, and New Sohag, with sizes ranging between 90 and 126 square meters.
Applicants must be between 21 and 45 years old. Additionally, the applicant, their spouse, or their minor children must not have previously owned a housing unit or a plot of land. A maximum monthly income limit has also been established in accordance with the rental value of the units.
