Lieutenant General Eng. Kamel El-Wazir, Egypt’s Minister of Transport, received Mr. Dávid Vitézy, Hungary’s Minister of Transport and Investment, at the Ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital (NAC). The meeting, aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation across various transport sectors, was attended by H.E. Dr. Rita Viktória Herencsár, Ambassador of Hungary to Egypt, Eng. Wagdy Radwan, Deputy Minister of Transport for Electric Traction and Railways, and other senior officials.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

During the talks, Lt. Gen. El-Wazir emphasized the deep-rooted Egyptian-Hungarian relations, expressing a strong desire to bolster cooperation, particularly in the railway sector. Both sides discussed the latest developments in ongoing railway projects, mechanisms for exchanging expertise, and strategies for advancing mass transit and green transportation systems.

The Hungarian Minister praised Egypt’s rapid development and its modern transport infrastructure. He expressed his admiration for the NAC and shared his satisfaction following his visit to Ramses Railway Station and the Railway Museum, where he observed Hungarian-manufactured trains operating efficiently on the Egyptian network.

Field Tour: Experiencing the Modern Transit Ecosystem

Following the discussions, the two ministers embarked on a field tour to experience the NAC's transport infrastructure firsthand:

ACTA Buses: The ministers rode ACTA mass transit buses from the Ministry's headquarters to the Government District Monorail Station.

Monorail Ride: The Hungarian Minister, accompanied by Eng. Wagdy Radwan, rode the East Nile Monorail from the Government District Station to Al-Fattah Al-Aleem Mosque Station, exploring the system's operational capabilities.

An Integrated Vision for Urban Mobility

Lt. Gen. El-Wazir highlighted that the New Administrative Capital stands as a prime model for integrating modern urban planning with an advanced transportation network.

Light Rail Transit (LRT)Provides a rapid, electrified railway connection linking Cairo's eastern suburbs directly to the heart of the New Capital.

ACTA Buses & Capital TaxiEnsure smart, smooth, and accessible internal mobility between the various districts and governmental zones within the NAC.

Concluding his visit, Mr. Vitézy commended the massive urban and civilizational projects he witnessed. He noted that the remarkable evolution of Egypt’s transport sector reflects the state’s massive efforts to upgrade its infrastructure to the highest global standards, ensuring world-class service for citizens and supporting sustainable development.
