ADNOC Deploys AI-Powered Real-Time Operations Center Across 120+ Rigs in Partnership with SLB
ADNOC has announced the deployment of an AI-powered Real-Time Operations Centre (RTOC) across its fleet of more than 120 drilling rigs. Launched in collaboration with SLB, the system provides operational teams with faster, more interconnected methods to monitor, analyze, and manage both onshore and offshore drilling operations.
Transforming Efficiency and Reducing Downtime
The RTOC system streamlines operations by eliminating the need for multiple disparate tools and reducing engineering effort by 30% to 40%. This efficiency gain enables engineers to support two to three times the number of rigs while maintaining highly effective supervision.
Leveraging automated dashboards and AI-driven performance insights, the system transforms vast volumes of drilling data into clear, actionable intelligence. As a result, reporting cycles that previously took several days can now be completed within hours. Furthermore, by analyzing rig data in real-time, the system proactively identifies potential issues before they escalate. This predictive capability reduces incident response times by 4 to 12 hours and successfully averts between one to two days of operational downtime.
Executive Insights
Musabbeh Al Kaabi, ADNOC's Upstream Executive Director, highlighted the strategic importance of the new system:
"The RTOC delivers added value every minute across all of ADNOC's drilling operations by integrating AI into the very core of our activities, empowering our teams to make faster and smarter decisions at scale. Built securely within the UAE, this system stands as yet another example of ADNOC's efforts to transition from setting AI plans and targets to actively executing them and making a tangible positive impact, as we strive to become the world’s most AI-enabled energy company."
Powered by Advanced SLB Technology
Backed by SLB’s DrillOps™ intelligent well delivery and data analysis solutions, the RTOC seamlessly aggregates data from various drilling operations into a unified platform. This integration provides business, asset, and drilling teams with instant, comprehensive visibility across all active rigs.
The centralized overview helps teams proactively identify risks, optimize coordination, and make faster, more precise decisions. By combining live operational data with advanced analytics and AI-derived insights, the RTOC empowers personnel to complete tasks that once required a full day of analysis in just a matter of minutes.
