MCIT Website Enhances Digital Inclusion with Advanced Accessibility Tools
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has introduced a comprehensive suite of accessibility tools to its official website, giving users the ability to customize their browsing experience according to their individual needs.
The move reflects the Ministry's ongoing efforts to ensure equitable access to digital services for all members of society, with a particular focus on empowering persons with disabilities (PwDs).
This step comes within the framework of the Digital Accessibility for Government Websites presidential initiative. Led by the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID), an MCIT affiliate, the initiative works to enable PwDs to access government digital services independently and efficiently by promoting accessibility standards across government websites.
The new tools support a wide range of users, including persons with visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive disabilities, as well as senior citizens and anyone seeking a more personalized browsing experience. Features include:
- Screen reader compatibility for users with visual impairments
- Keyboard navigation for users unable to use a mouse
- Text size adjustment for improved readability
- High-contrast and color customization options, including settings for different types of color vision deficiencies
- Font and spacing adjustments to support users with dyslexia and other reading difficulties
- Reading guide and reading mask features to help maintain focus
- Animation controls to pause moving content and reduce visual distractions
- Cursor enhancement options for easier navigation
- Link highlighting and other visual aids that simplify browsing
- Additional interface customization tools tailored to individual accessibility needs
These tools are available on every page of the Ministry’s website and can be activated via the Accessibility icon.
By adopting internationally recognized digital accessibility standards, MCIT continues to advance Egypt's digital transformation agenda while ensuring government information and services remain accessible to all. The Ministry remains committed to enhancing its digital platforms in collaboration with NAID, reinforcing the principle that digital transformation must be inclusive and leave no one behind.
