ICT Minister, Systems Limited Discuss Expansion, Transforming Egypt Office into Major Global Hub
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hendy has met with CEO and Managing Director of Systems Limited Asif Peer to discuss the company’s expansion plans in Egypt and efforts to grow its digital services exports from Egypt to clients across regional markets.
The meeting was attended by CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Ahmed Elzaher, General Manager for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) at Systems Limited Khurram Majeed, General Manager of Systems Egypt Ahmed Kandil, and Vice President of ITIDA for ICT Markets Development Mahmoud Sofrata.
The meeting reviewed the company's expansion plans in Egypt, including its recently opened Smart Village office, which currently employs around 250 engineers specializing in software development, IT services, and outsourcing. The company plans to expand the office's workforce by creating more than 380 new jobs over the coming period.
During the meeting, the ICT Minister emphasized that Egypt is steadily strengthening its position as a global hub for digital services exports. He highlighted the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT)’s commitment to investing in human development and specialized technology skills, helping build a pool of highly qualified professionals capable of meeting the evolving needs of global markets.
Hendy said the continued expansion of international companies in Egypt reflects the effectiveness of these efforts. Egypt's competitiveness in outsourcing goes beyond the availability of skilled professionals to include their ability to deliver high-value services in software engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), and data, he added. This, in turn, gives international companies greater confidence to expand their operations and digital exports from Egypt.
The company’s officials explained that the Egypt office offers an integrated portfolio of technology services, including software development, digital transformation, AI, data analytics, systems integration, and outsourcing. The office serves clients across the Arab region and beyond, supporting key sectors such as banking, telecommunications, and financial technology (fintech).
For his part, CEO Asif Peer outlined the company’s global strategy and future plans. He praised Egypt’s competitive advantages in outsourcing, which have made the country an attractive investment destination for global companies. He said these advantages have encouraged the company to expand its operations in Egypt, with plans to make its office in Egypt the second largest worldwide, after its headquarters in Pakistan.
Peer noted that around 85% of the company’s business is export-driven, adding that the company continues to grow its operations through a flexible business model that enables it to adapt to technological advancements and meet customer needs worldwide.
The meeting also explored opportunities for cooperation between ITIDA and Systems Limited, including ITIDA’s Train to Hire Program, designed to meet companies’ needs and support their expansion strategies in Egypt. The program is aimed at developing the technical and language skills of Egyptian youth, creating a sustainable talent pool, and enhancing Egypt’s competitiveness as a leading global destination for business process outsourcing and IT services.
