Egyptian Leather Chamber Outlines Global Exhibition Strategy to Boost Exports

The Exhibitions Committee of the Leather Industry Chamber, affiliated with the Federation of Egyptian Industries, has reviewed its comprehensive plan for upcoming international exhibitions and trade missions. The initiative aligns with the Chamber's broader strategy to penetrate new foreign markets, increase leather exports, and enhance the global competitiveness of Egyptian products.

Leadership Vision for Export Growth

Gamal El-Samalouty, Chairman of the Leather Industry Chamber, emphasized that participating in international exhibitions and organizing trade missions are critical pillars for driving sector exports. He noted that expanding the footprint of Egyptian products across Arab and African markets remains a top priority for the Board of Directors.

El-Samalouty added that the Chamber is continuously coordinating with relevant authorities to provide necessary support and facilities, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to ensure their active participation in overseas exhibitions.

Targeted Markets and B2B Strategies

Mostafa Allam, Head of the Exhibitions Committee, outlined the proposed roadmap, which targets high-priority markets:

Saudi Arabia: Enhancing participation in the Riyadh exhibition by pre-arranging Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings, compiling target buyer databases, and organizing pre-exhibition field visits to major importers to maximize export deal closures.

Algeria: Preparing for an upcoming exhibition scheduled from April 26 to 28, capitalizing on the lucrative opportunities the Algerian market offers for Egyptian leather goods.

Tanzania: Organizing a fact-finding trade mission alongside a local exhibition to study market dynamics, pricing, and competition before officially committing to formal exhibition participation.

Cairo International Leather Exhibition

The committee also discussed final preparations for the Cairo International Leather Exhibition, slated to launch this December. A key focus will be attracting an international buyers' delegation comprising importers and distributors from target regions—primarily Saudi Arabia and various African and Arab nations. This effort aims to facilitate direct export contracts and cement the exhibition's status as a premier platform connecting Egyptian manufacturers with global markets.

Strategic Execution and Exhibitor Support

Chamber Board Members highlighted the strategic nuances required for successful international expansion:

Timing and Metrics: Hisham El-Boushi stressed the importance of aligning exhibition participation with commercial seasons. He noted that success should be measured by the volume of contracts secured rather than mere participation numbers, emphasizing that diversifying export markets is essential amid global economic shifts.

Competitive Edge: Ashraf Mahrous affirmed that Egypt's leather sector possesses the production capacity and competitive edge needed to thrive in Arab and African markets. He reiterated that direct access to target clients through well-prepared B2B meetings is the most effective way to secure new export agreements.

To further encourage participation, the committee explored new mechanisms to ease subscription fees and expand financial support programs for exhibitors, empowering more Egyptian companies to expand their international presence.
