I-Score Issues Official Warning Against Rising Cyber Fraud and Impersonation Attempts in Egypt
The Egyptian Credit Bureau (I-Score) has issued an official warning to consumers regarding an increase in cyber fraud attempts. Fraudsters are exploiting the company's brand name through spoofed applications, fake social media pages, and malicious links designed to harvest personal data or trick users into downloading unofficial software.
In an official advisory published across its verified social media channels, I-Score clarified that it never requests personal information from clients via SMS, social media platforms, or phone calls. Furthermore, the company emphasized that it does not dispatch links urging customers to click or input sensitive credentials.
I-Score strongly underscored that its operational scope does not include issuing loans or extending credit facilities. Consequently, any messages or communications claiming to offer financing, or requesting fees and payments under the "I-Score" name, are entirely fraudulent and must be treated with extreme caution.
The bureau stated that any prompt to download unofficial applications or share personal and financial details must be ignored immediately, advising users to refrain from interacting with anonymous links.
To ensure the authenticity of any circulated announcements, I-Score urged consumers to rely solely on its verified channels for data and services, including its official website and verified social media accounts.
Additionally, I-Score called upon the public to promptly report any identity theft or phishing attempts using the company’s name by contacting its short hotline 16262, a measure aimed at protecting users and curbing fraudulent activities. The bureau concluded by stressing that maintaining data confidentiality and verifying information sources serve as the primary line of defense against escalating cyber risks.
