EUI Students Showcase 17 Industry-Ready Games Inspired by Egyptian Culture and Heritage

The Faculty of Digital Arts and Design at Egypt University of Informatics has successfully concluded its annual Game Design Final Showcase, highlighting the graduation projects of students enrolled in the university’s Game Design program and celebrating the emergence of a new generation of Egyptian digital creators.

The showcase brought together a specialized evaluation panel comprising faculty members, industry professionals, and academic experts, who assessed the projects based on a comprehensive set of criteria, including storytelling quality, level design, visual consistency, user experience, and the suitability of each game’s artistic direction for its target audience.

Following the evaluation process, 17 student-developed games successfully met all artistic and technical quality standards, demonstrating the students’ ability to combine creativity, technology, and user-centered design principles in commercially relevant gaming experiences.

A distinctive feature of this year’s projects was their strong connection to Egyptian heritage and culture. Many of the games explored themes related to family relationships, intergenerational bonds, national identity, and environmental awareness, offering players immersive experiences rooted in local narratives while reflecting global design standards.

Among the most notable projects was “Qahwa Balady,” which presents a cultural exploration of traditional Egyptian cafés as living social and historical landmarks. Another standout title, “Shadows of Cairo,” immerses players in a suspenseful criminal investigation set in the Egyptian capital during the 1960s, blending mystery with historical storytelling.

Other featured projects included “The Last Dance,” which merges ballet-inspired gameplay with elements of Egyptian folklore, “Omda Al-Mashi,” a creative title that combines cooking and management mechanics within a fictional world, and “Tota in Rabbitland,” a fast-paced 2D racing game that integrates narrative-driven gameplay. Meanwhile, “The Journey” focuses on friendship and personal growth, guiding players through a series of interactive experiences that explore life’s challenges and relationships.

The showcase reflects EUI’s broader mission of preparing highly skilled digital designers capable of competing in international creative industries. The university continues to invest in emerging fields that sit at the intersection of technology, art, and innovation, supporting Egypt’s growing presence in the global digital economy.

The event comes at a time when the global gaming industry is experiencing rapid expansion, with market projections indicating that the sector could reach $350 billion by 2030, reinforcing its position as one of the most influential industries of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
