Ministry of Defense Representative at CAISEC 2026: Cybersecurity is a Borderless Strategic Imperative Requiring National and Global Partnerships
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Defense and Military Production, Brigadier General Ahmed Mohamed Enany delivered the opening keynote at the Information Security and Cybersecurity Conference (CAISEC 2026). He extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr. Osama Kamal for his outstanding efforts in organizing the event, noting that it arrives at a critical juncture where cyber threats have transcended the digital realm to directly impact the economic and social stability of nations.
Protecting Critical Infrastructure During his address, Brig. Gen. Enany explained that the repercussions of cyberattacks are no longer confined to technical disruptions; they have escalated to paralyzing critical infrastructures and destabilizing institutions. He pointed out that the rapid acceleration of digital transformation has been accompanied by a vast expansion of the threat and attack surface. Consequently, cybersecurity is no longer merely an operational option, but a strategic necessity that dictates the continuous modernization of risk management protocols.
Investing in Human Capital and Cross-Border Frameworks The scale of current challenges, he added, imposes an increasing national commitment to investing in human minds and supporting scientific research, ensuring the sustainability of defense capabilities against future threats. He stressed the importance of developing cross-border frameworks to enhance early warning mechanisms and coordinate cyber incident responses.
Preparing for Quantum and AI Threats Brig. Gen. Enany highlighted that the current strategic vision is not limited to addressing present challenges. It extends to anticipating the future, particularly in light of the rapid development of Quantum Computing and Generative AI, and the escalating risks associated with them.
He affirmed that success in this domain cannot be achieved through isolated efforts; it requires forging genuine, effective partnerships between the government, the private sector, and all relevant stakeholders. He concluded by expressing his confidence that the CAISEC conference will help crystalize innovative solutions and establish a clear roadmap toward a more secure and sustainable national future.
