Mohamed Ben Amor at CAISEC 2026: Cybersecurity is the Pillar of Digital Sovereignty, and Arab-African Integration is Essential
Mohamed Ben Amor, Director General of the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization (AICTO), expressed his pleasure at participating in the opening of the 5th edition of the CAISEC conference and exhibition. He emphasized that the event has firmly established itself as a leading strategic and regional platform, arriving at a time when the world is witnessing unprecedented transformations that are actively reshaping economies, as well as the very concepts of security and sovereignty.
Re-engineering the Digital Space Ben Amor stated that the world is no longer merely undergoing a traditional digital transformation; rather, it is experiencing a comprehensive "re-engineering" of the global digital space. Data and algorithms have become central elements in the equation of power, development, and stability. Within this context, he highlighted cybersecurity as a fundamental pillar of digital sovereignty and a vital component in building digital trust within states and societies.
Strategic Partnerships and International Participation He noted that this year's edition holds special significance due to its strategic partnership with the "Anka" Foundation. This collaboration reflects a shared will to bolster Arab-African integration in confronting cyber challenges and building a more secure and resilient digital space. Ben Amor also highly valued the prominent international participation at the summit, specifically citing the European Institute, which adds a crucial normative and strategic dimension to the dialogues.
The Dual Impact of AI Looking ahead, Ben Amor pointed out that the digital future is governed by a deeply interconnected agenda. While cybersecurity serves as the bedrock of digital trust and the first line of defense for digital infrastructure, the rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence present a paradox. Every leap in AI opens new horizons for innovation, but simultaneously reshapes the nature of threats and risks. The ultimate challenge, therefore, lies in achieving digital evolution that is both secure and sustainable.
AICTO's Commitment Ben Amor reaffirmed AICTO's dedication, working alongside various partners, to invest in building digital human capacities, enhancing regional and international partnerships, and developing proactive digital government models. The organization remains committed to supporting Arab-African cooperation and remaining open to global partnerships to boost resilience against digital threats.
Concluding his address, Ben Amor extended his gratitude to the Arab Republic of Egypt—both its government and its people—for hosting the event. He expressed his appreciation to the organizers, participants, and experts, voicing his hope that the conference's outcomes will translate into practical initiatives supporting safe and sustainable digital transformation across the Arab region and the African continent.
