Power Wadi Launches Local Production of 5,000 Solar Inverters as Egypt Accelerates Industrial Solar Shift

Power Wadi has announced the launch of an ambitious local manufacturing plan targeting the production of 5,000 solar inverter units in Egypt, as the country intensifies efforts to localize renewable energy technologies and expand industrial adoption of solar power solutions.

The move comes alongside the Egyptian government’s growing push toward clean energy transformation, particularly through the “Industrial Sun” initiative, which aims to equip nearly 7,000 factories — representing around 10% of Egypt’s industrial base — with solar energy systems.

Wael Halawa, CEO of Power Wadi, said the company’s expansion reflects broader state efforts to deepen local manufacturing capabilities and reduce reliance on imported technology components, particularly within the renewable energy sector.

Solar Inverters Become Strategic Component in Egypt’s Clean Energy Expansion

Halawa explained that solar inverters have become one of the most critical components within modern solar infrastructure, given their role in converting and managing electrical energy to ensure stable and efficient operations across industrial, commercial, and agricultural facilities.

According to the company, Power Wadi’s locally manufactured inverter portfolio will support a wide range of energy applications. Its Off-Grid systems range from 1.2 kW to 12 kW for residential and commercial use, while its On-Grid solutions are designed for residential, commercial, and industrial-scale projects.

The systems integrate advanced MPPT technologies, lithium battery compatibility, energy storage capabilities, smart energy management systems, and remote monitoring and control features designed to improve operational efficiency and energy optimization.

Power Wadi Targets Industrial and Food Production Sectors

Halawa stated that the company is not merely focused on assembling hardware, but is positioning itself as a provider of fully integrated renewable energy ecosystems combining smart software, monitoring platforms, and advanced energy management technologies.

The company is primarily targeting Egypt’s industrial and commercial sectors, with a particular focus on food manufacturing businesses, which are witnessing rising demand for solar energy solutions amid growing electricity consumption and mounting pressure to reduce operational costs.

He noted that Egyptian manufacturers are increasingly viewing solar energy as both an economic necessity and a long-term strategic investment capable of improving competitiveness while supporting environmental sustainability goals.

Egypt’s Renewable Energy Market Gains Momentum

Power Wadi’s expansion comes as Egypt continues accelerating its transition toward renewable energy and increasing the contribution of clean energy sources within the national energy mix.

Halawa pointed out that government policies are encouraging factories to secure at least 25% of their electricity consumption through solar energy systems, alongside wider deployment of rooftop solar installations across industrial facilities.

He added that initiatives such as “Industrial Sun” are creating significant momentum for companies operating in the renewable energy and local manufacturing sectors by opening new pathways for factories to adopt clean energy while lowering dependence on conventional power sources.

Smart Energy Solutions Extend Beyond Factories

Beyond industrial applications, Power Wadi is also developing integrated solar solutions targeting agricultural and commercial use cases, including solar-powered irrigation systems and specialized energy infrastructure for warehouses, production facilities, and logistics operations that require stable and highly efficient power systems.

The company believes demand for renewable energy technologies across Egypt and the wider region will continue rising over the coming years as governments and businesses accelerate efforts to reduce carbon emissions and implement green transition strategies.

Local Manufacturing Could Position Egypt as Regional Renewable Energy Hub

Halawa emphasized that local manufacturing presents a strategic opportunity for Egypt to strengthen its position as a regional hub for renewable energy technologies and components serving Arab and African markets.

He added that the company is betting on strong long-term growth in local and regional demand for solar energy infrastructure, particularly as global markets increasingly prioritize sustainability, energy security, and carbon reduction policies.

Concluding his remarks, Halawa stressed that Egypt’s industrial sector has become significantly more aware of the importance of solar energy as a practical and strategic solution, noting that adopting smart and integrated renewable energy systems is no longer optional, but essential for sustaining industrial growth and achieving long-term economic development.
