AI Hackathon Kicks Off at Creative Innovation Hubs Nationwide

The AI Hackathon has officially kicked off, bringing together students and recent graduates from across Egypt. The event is organized by Creativa Innovation Hubs and the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), part of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), on August 16–20, in collaboration with Orange Digital Center and Instant educational platform.

More than 15,000 students applied for the hackathon, with 2,000 ultimately selected to take part.

The opening ceremony was streamed live across Creativa Innovation Hubs in the governorates, connecting participants with teams from the organizing entities. Opening remarks outlined the hackathon's objectives, emphasizing its role in building young people's skills in emerging technologies and encouraging them to apply these skills to real-world problems.

The event includes three days of in-person activities at the training centers, followed by two days of online sessions. The event takes place at Creativa Innovation Hubs in Cairo, Alexandria, Damanhour, Tanta, Mansoura, Menoufia, Benha, Zagazig, Ismailia, Port Said, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Sohag, Qena, New Valley, and Aswan.

On the first day, participants took part in training sessions and hands-on activities, working in teams to tackle AI challenges. They began developing their solutions, which they will continue refining and presenting over the coming days.

The AI Hackathon is part of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s (MCIT) and ITIDA's efforts to build young people's digital skills, encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, and help them develop AI projects and solutions. Such efforts also help prepare youth for future jobs and support Egypt's position as a regional hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology services.
