Egypt’s Inflation Sustains Downward Path: Core Inflation Drops to 13.8% in April 2026

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) reported a notable decline in the annual core inflation rate, which eased to 13.8% in April 2026, down from 14% in March. According to the CBE's latest statement, the monthly core Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 1.1% in April, showing a marked deceleration compared to the 2.0% monthly increase recorded in March 2026 and the 1.2% seen in April 2025.

This cooling trend is further supported by data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), which revealed that annual urban headline inflation fell to 14.9% in April 2026, compared to 15.2% in the previous month. The slowdown in both core and headline inflation figures suggests that the inflationary pressures that peaked in previous years are steadily dissipating, providing a more stable environment for monetary policy planning and private sector investment.
