Eng. Rafat Hindi, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, opens the largest distribution center for fast trade in the Middle East and North Africa for Egypt”s Orders Company

On behalf of the Prime Minister; Eng. Rafat Hindi, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, inaugurated the largest distribution center for fast trade in the Middle East and North Africa for the Egypt Requests Company - Applying daily needs - in the presence of Mr. Ahmed Kajok, Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Eng. Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry, and Eng. Ahmed Al-Zaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Authority (ITIDA).

The new distribution center, developed in partnership with Hassan Allam Facilities, is located within the Yanmo East logistics complex on Cairo-Suez Road, on an estimated area of 27,000 square meters, with an operational capacity of about one million pieces per day. The center currently serves 100% of the Mart Talat network in Egypt across 12 cities, with plans to expand to 17 cities in the coming period.

Eng. Rafat Hindi, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, stressed that the expansion of Talalat's investments through the establishment of this logistics center, which relies on technology and artificial intelligence applications, reflects the growing confidence in the Egyptian market and its promising elements in the field of e-commerce. He added that the remarkable development witnessed by the digital infrastructure in Egypt and the growth of online e-commerce services and various digital platforms and mobile applications in recent years is a major factor in attracting investments and motivating international companies to expand their business within the Egyptian market, especially in sectors related to the digital economy and e-commerce.

He added that the company's dependence on a technology and shared services center in Egypt reflects confidence in the capabilities of Egyptian cadres to provide high-value services, whether by contributing to the development of the company's application or providing customer support services to the company's various markets starting from Egypt.

The center relies on integrated operating systems that work in real time, linking inventory management, stores and supply operations, ensuring the efficiency and speed of implementation of operations. Internally developed AI models are also used to predict demand, improve inventory distribution, and automate supply processes, which enhances the accuracy, efficiency and responsiveness of processes, as well as reducing network loss.

The Center contributes to supporting the fast trade sector "the next generation of e-commerce" in the Egyptian market. This center has been designed based on technology as a key element in its operational structure, keeping pace with the requirements of future expansion, as advanced technical solutions allow increasing the efficiency and improving the management of operational spaces. This contributes to the current capacity of about 75,000 storage sites, with the possibility of doubling the capacity within the same area without the need for any further expansion, which enhances the efficiency of logistics operations and supports the growth of e-commerce services and supply chains.

“This project represents an important step for us in Egypt and in the region, as it allows us to operate our operations with a higher degree of reliability, improve product availability for customers, and support our wider partners,” said Mr. Ton Gisels, CEO of Talam. With the rapid growth of the fast trade sector, this infrastructure is the basis for us to expand sustainably and more efficiently.”

Engineer Mohamed Sakina, Regional Director General of MART Orders, said: “This distribution center is a key pillar to support MART orders operations in Egypt. Our investment in advanced technology is part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and providing a faster and more reliable customer experience. The role of this center is not limited to being a storage facility, but also a smart infrastructure that contributes to the reshaping of the fast trade sector in Egypt, in line with best practices and international standards.”

This center provides the basic infrastructure necessary to support local producers, suppliers and traders, contributing to enabling them to grow and expand, and improving the level of services provided to customers in terms of accessibility and competitive prices.

It is worth mentioning that “Talab” Egypt is a huge regional center for the company's operations in the Middle East and North Africa, where the company employs about 3,100 employees, including more than 1,600 specialists working to support the eight “Talat” markets in the region through the Technology and Shared Services Center in Egypt.

The cross-border services team in Egypt currently provides 74% of the joint company's services, and also contributes to the development of a large part of the user application features in the region, which reflects Egypt's pivotal role in the innovation and development of digital products at the group level.
