Smart Interaction Security Initiative Aims to Strengthen Safe Deployment of AI Agents in the Telecom Industry
The Smart Interaction Security Initiative, part of the AI Reference Maps Program, aims to bring together telecommunications leaders and technology partners from around the world to address one of the industry’s most pressing challenges: how to deploy AI agent systems safely and effectively to enhance productivity and drive revenue growth while ensuring security, trust, and operational interoperability from the design stage.
According to the Cybersecurity Pulse Report for February 2026, more than 80% of Fortune 500 companies currently use active AI agents, yet only 47% have dedicated security controls specifically designed for AI systems.
As the telecommunications sector increasingly relies on AI agents for internal productivity, customer service, and autonomous network operations, establishing robust and industry-aligned security frameworks has become critical.
As a co-chair within the AI Reference Maps initiative, Cequence Security will contribute its operational expertise and threat intelligence capabilities to secure AI-driven interactions and help establish frameworks that ensure secure interoperability from the outset.
The company’s efforts will focus on maintaining integrity standards for intelligent communications, implementing real-time governance frameworks, identifying operational resilience patterns, and facilitating coordination among security practitioners, telecom service providers, and global standards organizations.
