AI Agents Enhance Productivity but Will Not Replace Human Intelligence, Experts Affirm at Cairo ICT 2025

A panel of technology leaders at the 29th edition of Cairo ICT emphasized that while AI agents are transforming workplace efficiency, they do not signal the end of human intelligence. The session, titled “AI Agents at Work – Redefining Work in the Age of Autonomous Intelligence,” explored how these technologies are reshaping enterprise environments without eliminating the role of human professionals.

The discussion was moderated by Sherif Sheltout, Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa at Liquid C2, who opened with an overview of the principles behind AI agents and their emerging applications across industries.

Wafik Baghdadi, Sales Director for Microsoft at Noventiq, explained that AI agents operate through structured, sequential steps, and any deviation can disrupt the workflow. He noted that AI has evolved into agents capable of pursuing preset goals and making decisions autonomously. Baghdadi cited a real-world case in which an AI-driven call center completed more than 175,000 customer calls without recipients realizing they were speaking to an AI system.

Ahmed El Ghabbary, Sales Lead for Collaboration at Cisco Africa, described AI as an assistant or executive aide for many business domains, significantly boosting productivity. He highlighted the use of AI tools in real-time translation during multilingual business meetings, which improves mutual understanding among participants. He added that AI can summarize discussions, analyze key points, and carry out defined objectives, while final decision-making remains firmly under human control.

Mahmoud Abouzeid, Chief Technology Officer at Momentum X, emphasized that AI agents are now capable of taking independent actions and executing tasks rather than merely providing data or analysis. He stated that AI does not replace human roles but transforms and enhances how people work.

Tamer Abdel Fattah, AI and Data Business Development Manager at Dell Technologies, noted the rapid development of AI in recent years across various business sectors. He highlighted the emergence of specialized companies in Egypt that are delivering AI agent solutions for critical areas such as accounting, financial applications, and call center operations.

Mohamed Abou Bakr, Head of Software Solutions at Raya Information Technology, concluded the session by affirming that AI enables faster and more accurate execution of business tasks. He stressed that AI will introduce new business models and reshape organizational processes, but it will never eliminate the need for human expertise.
