Riyadh Air Expands International Network with Daily Flights to Cairo

Riyadh Air, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s new national carrier and part of the Public Investment Fund, has announced Cairo as its second regional destination within its international network, launching daily flights between King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Cairo International Airport.

This strategic move strengthens Riyadh Air’s presence on one of the world’s busiest international routes, offering passengers a world-class travel experience aboard its modern Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, combining advanced operational efficiency, cutting-edge digital technologies, and exceptional comfort.

Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, stated:
"Launching Cairo as our third destination after London and Dubai marks a significant step in connecting Riyadh to the world and vice versa. This launch supports Riyadh Air’s strategy to position Riyadh as a global aviation hub, advance the National Tourism Strategy and National Transport and Logistics Strategy, and strengthen international air connectivity under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030."

The launch aligns with Riyadh Air’s operational plan, “Path to Takeoff”, aimed at achieving optimal operational efficiency ahead of expanding commercial flights. The airline is preparing to commence its international operations to London, Dubai, and now Cairo as the third destination.

Travel data between Riyadh and Cairo underscores the strategic importance of this route, reflecting strong historical, economic, and tourism ties. Passenger traffic between the capitals reached 2.7 million, with Cairo consistently ranking as the top international destination for travelers departing Saudi airports. Egyptian visitors constitute a key segment of inbound travel to the Kingdom, emphasizing the route’s pivotal role in regional and international connectivity.

The new flights respond to rising demand for travel for Hajj, Umrah, business, and tourism, providing a comprehensive experience tailored to diverse passenger needs. Riyadh continues to grow as a dynamic hub for business, culture, and tourism, while Cairo stands out as a globally significant tourist and business destination, enhanced by attractions like the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Red Sea coastline.

Early travelers designated as “Founding Members” of Riyadh Air’s loyalty program, “Safir”, will enjoy complimentary intranet access, priority booking for future flights, and additional exclusive benefits, with registration still open via RiyadhAir.com.

Riyadh Air continues to expand its international network rapidly, targeting over 100 destinations by 2030, delivering a fully digital travel experience supported by an advanced technology platform, an innovative loyalty program, and world-class service reflecting Saudi hospitality.
