MNT-Halan Partners with Visa to Expand Its Prepaid Card Offering and Accelerate Digital Payments in Egypt
MNT-Halan, the leading and fastest growing fintech company in Egypt and the MENA region, has announced a strategic partnership with Visa, a world leader in digital payments, to introduce new Visa-powered cards. In 2025, MNT-Halan issued more than 1 million Halan cards and processed over EGP 40 billion across more than 10 million transactions, reflecting strong demand and rapid adoption. The partnership with Visa will enable the expansion of card issuance and distribution by leveraging Visa’s robust infrastructure and a suite of value-added services, accelerating everyday usage for digital payments, while supporting the company’s plans to scale the card proposition across multiple markets.
The partnership was celebrated at MNT-Halan’s headquarters in Cairo, attended by both management teams, with the agreement signed by MNT-Halan Founder & CEO Mounir Nakhla and Visa’s Vice President and Egypt Country Manager Malak El Baba.
Functioning as a prepaid card, it also enables customers to use their instant credit limits, which are granted quickly using only a national ID, after being assessed through Halan’s AI-powered scoring model. Integrated into the Halan superapp, the card enables essential financial services such as bill payments, installment plans, savings and e-commerce. Cardholders also benefit from investment-backed secured lending, loyalty and rewards programs, and cashback management, all within a single digital platform.
Mounir Nakhla, Founder and CEO of MNT-Halan, said: “The Halan Card represents the future of digital payments. Partnering with Visa unlocks tremendous possibilities, allowing us to capitalize on their trusted global network and strong infrastructure to increase distribution across Egypt and pave the way for introducing the card to new markets. This collaboration strengthens our ability to deliver seamless, secure, and accessible financial services to millions of customers”
Malak El Baba, Vice President & Egypt Country Manager at Visa, added: “MNT-Halan has established itself as a powerhouse in the regional fintech landscape, and we are excited to be their partner of choice for this next phase of growth. Through this collaboration, Visa will provide the robust infrastructure and value-added services needed to support MNT-Halan’s aggressive expansion targets. Together, we are delivering a superior payment experience that combines the speed of instant credit with the reliability and acceptance of the Visa network.”
The partnership reinforces MNT-Halan’s ambition to build a scalable, inclusive, and commercially sustainable financial ecosystem, while contributing to Egypt’s transition toward a cashless, digitally enabled economy.
