National Bank of Egypt Inaugurates Central Monitoring Unit for Warehouses in 6th of October City
The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) has officially inaugurated its new Central Monitoring Unit for warehouses located in the 6th of October Industrial Zone, as part of the bank’s ongoing strategy to strengthen security, safety, and asset protection systems.
The opening ceremony was attended by Yehia Abou El Fotouh, Deputy CEO of the National Bank of Egypt; Hossam El Hagar, Head of Administrative Support Group; Eng. Khaled Abdallah, Head of Information Systems Group; Eng. Ahmed Kamal, Head of Telecommunications Group; and Major General Ahmed El Ashry, Head of Security Sector at NBE.
Also present were Eng. Omar Sabour, Head of the Consulting Office supervising the project’s implementation, and Eng. Ihab Youssef, Chairman of Herb Trade, the local agent of global technology company Honeywell, the main supplier of surveillance cameras and monitoring systems, alongside senior bank executives and representatives of the executing companies.
During the inauguration, Yehia Abou El Fotouh expressed pride in the advanced level of the newly established monitoring unit, which was designed and implemented using the latest global surveillance technologies and multi-risk alarm systems. These systems cover both internal warehouse facilities and surrounding external areas.
He emphasized that this step reflects the National Bank of Egypt’s commitment to reinforcing oversight and security across its assets, in line with the highest international standards of safety and operational quality.
For his part, Hossam El Hagar stated that the project aligns with the bank’s senior management vision to deploy state-of-the-art monitoring systems across all NBE facilities, aiming to minimize risks related to theft and fire, while enabling long-term recording and documentation for reference when needed.
He added that the National Bank of Egypt was the first Egyptian bank to establish a centralized security monitoring room more than 14 years ago, underscoring its long-standing leadership in security infrastructure.
The project also includes the establishment of an alternative backup control room to ensure business continuity during emergencies. The new unit leverages advanced camera features to automatically manage lighting levels based on movement detection, contributing to energy efficiency, while activating customized alerts according to the type of risk across all NBE locations nationwide.
