Anthropic Launches Healthcare-Specific Version of “Claude” Chatbot
Anthropic has unveiled a healthcare-tailored version of its AI chatbot, Claude, designed to deliver intelligent solutions for healthcare providers, insurers, and patients.
The new version enables the integration of health data from smartphones, smartwatches, and various health platforms, with a strict assurance that user data will not be used to train AI models. The initiative aims to enhance administrative efficiency and reduce the paperwork burden on physicians.
Advanced tools, including “connectors”, allow Claude to access approved medical databases and platforms, such as medical coverage databases, ICD-10 disease classification, NPI provider registries, and PubMed for research. These capabilities accelerate medical research, reporting, and decision-making processes.
Additionally, the platform can streamline prior authorization requests for treatments and medications, reducing administrative workload and allowing doctors to focus more on direct patient care.
This launch highlights the expanding role of AI in healthcare, not just for patients but within complex administrative and clinical workflows, amid growing competition among AI companies entering the sector.
