Egypt Produces 10 Million Mobile Phones in 2025 as Local Manufacturing Gains Momentum

Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, revealed that 15 different smartphone models are currently manufactured locally, creating nearly 15,000 job opportunities for young Egyptians.

In televised remarks, Talaat said that 45% of mobile phones sold in Egypt are now locally manufactured, noting strong consumer demand for domestically produced devices. He added that Egypt produced 10 million mobile phones in 2025, compared to 3 million units in 2024, with plans to increase output to 15 million devices in 2026, including units designated for export.

The minister emphasized that global smartphone manufacturers are partnering with Egyptian companies to localize production, ensuring the availability of both high-end modern devices and affordable models tailored to different income segments.

According to Talaat, locally manufactured mobile phones in Egypt are available across a wide price range, starting from EGP 3,000 and reaching up to EGP 100,000, reflecting the diversity of products and technological capabilities within the domestic manufacturing sector.

The expansion of smartphone manufacturing aligns with Egypt’s broader strategy to strengthen local industry, boost exports, and position the country as a regional hub for electronics manufacturing.
