Egypt’s Housing Minister: Phase One of “Decent Life” Initiative to be Completed by March
Engineer Sherif Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, confirmed on Sunday that the ministry is steadily implementing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to rapidly complete Phase One of the “Decent Life” initiative. He noted that all projects under this first phase across the country are expected to be fully completed by March.
In an exclusive interview with Nile TV from Luxor, Sherbini said the ministry is finalizing Phase One in preparation for Phase Two, ensuring that 1,477 villages in urgent need receive comprehensive services, including water and sanitation networks, as well as enhanced healthcare facilities.
He highlighted the government’s commitment to delivering a qualitative transformation in Egypt’s most underprivileged villages by providing essential utilities, health and educational services, and sports facilities. Luxor governorate has been allocated a significant share of these projects.
The Minister stressed that most “Decent Life” projects in Luxor will be completed by the end of January, praising the initiative’s role in bringing a major developmental leap to rural Egypt.
Regarding the National Housing project in Luxor, Sherbini acknowledged its suspension since 2008 due to factors including rising costs. He confirmed strong coordination with the Luxor governorate to resume work and deliver all contracts to citizens as soon as possible.
