The Council of Ministers warns: Banks never ask for any detailed data on customer accounts
The Council of Ministers' Media Center denied what was reported about banks' request to customers to update their account data via telephone calls, pointing out that this news is completely disgraceful
The Media Center Explained In A Statement On Friday That The Central Bank Of Egypt Confirmed That Banks Never Request Any Detailed Data On Customer Accounts, Whether Through Phone Calls Or Through Pages Or Messages On Social Media Sites.
The statement pointed out that according to the Central Bank Law issued by Law No. 194 of 2020, Article (140) of the law stipulates that “all customer data, accounts, deposits, secretariats and safes in banks, as well as transactions related to them shall be confidential, and may not be viewed or given data about them directly or indirectly, except with the written permission of the account holder, deposit, trust or treasury or from one of his heirs or from one of the recommending them with all or some of these funds, or from his legal deputy or agent, or based on a judicial judgment or arbitration judgment.”
The Central Bank called on all customers of the banking sector not to provide any information about their accounts by phone to anyone, in order to avoid them in fraud attempts aimed at exploiting their personal data and financial accounts, while always ensuring the use of official channels in banking transactions.
