NTI, Huawei Inaugurate Five FTTH for Smart Cities Training Labs

The National Telecommunication Institute (NTI), in collaboration with Huawei, has inaugurated five technical training labs equipped with the latest Fiber to the Home (FTTH) technologies, aiming to train and qualify youth across various governorates, as well as support digital infrastructure development and advanced telecommunications projects.

The inauguration of the FTTH training labs marks a significant step toward preparing a skilled workforce equipped with essential practical skills, enhancing innovation opportunities, and ensuring the readiness of qualified professionals to participate in telecommunications and high-speed internet projects. It also reflects the outcomes of constructive cooperation between NTI and Huawei to qualify young professionals in line with the latest technical standards, keeping pace with rapid developments in the ICT sector.

The labs have been designed to equip trainees with the practical skills required to implement and operate fiber-optic networks, as well as expand digital infrastructure and modern telecommunications projects. This contributes to preparing qualified talents capable of meeting the needs of the local and regional labor markets, while enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian youth across various sectors.

The labs form part of the Fiber Optic Technology Academy, launched by NTI in collaboration with Huawei, which aims to develop highly qualified personnel equipped with advanced skills to meet the evolving demands of the ICT industry. The Academy combines NTI’s training expertise with Huawei’s advanced technological capabilities and trains approximately 1,000 trainees annually over a three-year period in FTTH technologies for smart cities, through NTI’s premises at Creativa Innovation Hubs nationwide.

It is worth noting that the collaboration between NTI and Huawei encompasses several capacity-building initiatives, including the Egyptian Talents Academy (ETA), Huawei’s ICT Talent Bank (ITB), and the FTTH Academy. These initiatives aim to develop highly skilled professionals in various fields, including data networks, cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and 5G networks, while connecting trainees with employment opportunities through Huawei’s ITB Recruitment Expo.
