Cairo ICT 2025 Kicks Off with Strong Momentum
The 29th edition of Cairo ICT, the Middle East and Africa’s leading technology exhibition and conference, kicked off with significant momentum, attended by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Amr Talaat, along with a wide range of ministers, industry leaders and senior officials.
This year’s powerful launch reflects the rapid evolution of Egypt’s ICT sector, a cross-cutting engine that supports and enables development across all state sectors.
Dell Technologies: AI will reshape the global economy
Mohamed El Zomor, General Manager of Dell Technologies Egypt, expressed his pride in the company’s long-standing participation in Cairo ICT, noting its major influence in Egypt and the wider region.
He highlighted that technology will account for 30% of global GDP, with Egypt’s ICT sector already contributing 5% to national output. He added that technology generates USD 23 trillion of global economic value, including USD 15 trillion from AI, and that AI will create up to 92 million new jobs worldwide.
El Zomor stressed the need to integrate AI across all levels of education, describing the AI wave as the most transformative challenge in the history of technological progress.
Orange Egypt: Supporting national digital transformation
Hesham Mahran, CEO and Managing Director of Orange Egypt, thanked Minister Amr Talaat for his leadership in advancing the sector, and praised the organizing team of Cairo ICT 2025.
He noted the significant progress made in Egypt’s telecommunications infrastructure, alongside developments in IoT and cybersecurity.
Mahran highlighted Orange’s contributions to digitalization, including Egypt’s first AI virtual assistant for airports, “Ask Mariam”, and the My Orange application that supports digital payments for government services.
He also emphasized the company’s commitment to youth and innovation, with a new Orange digital center set to open in Aswan to empower Upper Egypt’s talent.
Mahran reaffirmed Orange’s leadership in Egypt’s outsourcing sector and its role as a key digital transformation partner for the country’s New Republic.
Huawei: Two decades of partnership and a new data sovereignty milestone
Benjamin How, CEO of Huawei Egypt, expressed his satisfaction with the company’s participation in this year’s edition, marking 20 years of Huawei’s presence at Cairo ICT since 2005.
He highlighted Huawei’s role in expanding Egypt’s telecom infrastructure since 2004 and collaborating with more than 30 local partners across industries.
He noted that last year Huawei launched a new company dedicated to ensuring Egyptian data sovereignty, keeping national data within Egypt’s borders.
How also showcased the company’s investments in talent development, including 164 ICT academies and training programs that have benefited over 60,000 young Egyptians.
Fortinet: Cyber threats rising sharply across Egypt
Derek Manky, Chief Security Strategist at Fortinet, joined the event for the first time, arriving from Canada to participate.
He noted that Fortinet receives trillions of threat signals globally, backed by more than 500 AI-powered security patents.
Manky warned that cybercrime causes USD 11 trillion in global damages annually, with Egypt witnessing a 60% year-on-year increase in attacks, 56% of which target critical services such as healthcare and industrial operations.
He emphasized the importance of public-private cooperation and global education efforts, noting that AI has reduced incident response times from eight days to less than five.
ICT Misr: From digital payments to energy tech transformation
Mohamed El Mofty, CEO and co-founder of ICT Misr, expressed pride in supporting Cairo ICT as the official infrastructure sponsor for the fourth consecutive year.
He praised the event as a constant source of inspiration for the company’s growth, particularly in digital transformation within banking, fueled by the Central Bank of Egypt’s digital initiatives.
The company now operates across multiple sectors—including energy and petroleum—attracting top talent and expanding significantly. This year, ICT Misr is participating extensively across Halls 2 and 3 with a wide range of technology solutions.
Intel: Egypt is emerging as a regional digital innovation hub
Taha Khalifa, General Manager of Intel for MENA, affirmed the company’s commitment to the Egyptian market and its collaboration with government and private-sector stakeholders to accelerate digital transformation.
He emphasized Egypt’s growing status as a regional technology hub and highlighted Intel’s focus on enabling digital infrastructure, skilling programs and partnerships.
Khalifa noted that by 2028, AI-enabled processors will power 80% of all computers, and by 2026, half of all edge computing applications will embed AI capabilities.
Salesforce: Data and AI are reshaping the global economy
Mohamed Hegazy, General Manager of Salesforce Egypt, said the world is entering a new era where digital transformation has surpassed all previous disruptive waves.
He stated that AI is reshaping productivity and innovation, with trusted data at the core of this transformation, and affirmed that the future is not a battle between humans and machines but a collaboration that enhances life and opportunity.
A tribute to partners and organizers
Osama Kamal, Chairman of Trade Fairs International and founder of Cairo ICT, extended his gratitude to all partners, exhibitors and visitors, describing their support as the driving force behind the event’s continued success.
He announced that the Cairo ICT mobile app has become the number one event application in Egypt, thanks to collaboration across all stakeholders involved in this year’s exhibition.
