Kaspersky Sees 10% Sales Rise Amid Growing Cyberthreats in the Region

At Cairo ICT 2025, global cybersecurity company Kaspersky announced a 10% increase in its business across the Middle East during the first three quarters of 2025. The company also warned that understanding the evolving and increasingly sophisticated cyberthreat landscape has become essential for effective, day-to-day cyber defense.

According to Kaspersky’s telemetry, more than 320 million web and local threats were detected and blocked by its solutions across the region in the first eight months of 2025. Several threat categories saw notable spikes, including a 25% increase in password stealer detections and a 41% rise in spyware attacks.

Business-Focused Threats on the Rise

Threats specifically targeting businesses also grew significantly.

Backdoor detections rose by 23%, enabling attackers—when successful—to gain remote control over compromised systems.

Exploit attacks increased by 21%, with Microsoft Office named as the most targeted application.

Password stealers aimed at businesses surged by 41%.

Spyware attacks recorded the sharpest jump at 57%.

Kaspersky emphasized that these trends highlight the urgent need for a multi-layered cybersecurity strategy across organizations in the region.

“The growth we are seeing in our business goes hand in hand with the region’s ongoing digital expansion,” said Rashed Al Momani, General Manager for the Middle East at Kaspersky. “As more sectors embrace digital transformation and the digital economy continues to mature, cybercriminals are also finding new opportunities to exploit. This naturally leads to a rise in sophisticated attacks, underscoring the need for stronger cybersecurity awareness and proactive defense measures across the Middle East.”

Recommendations to Strengthen Cyber Resilience

To help businesses and government entities enhance their defenses, Kaspersky experts recommend:

Deploying advanced security platforms, such as Kaspersky Next, which integrate endpoint, cloud, and XDR/EDR capabilities to detect, investigate, and respond to complex threats including spyware, backdoors, and ransomware.

Keeping software up to date, especially frequently targeted applications like Microsoft Office, to reduce the risk of exploit-based attacks.

Leveraging threat intelligence services to stay informed about emerging tactics used by attackers.

Providing continuous employee training to recognize phishing attempts and other infection vectors.

For individual users, using a robust security solution such as Kaspersky Premium to stay protected from web-based threats.
