Kaspersky Warns Shoppers of 11.11 Singles Day Sale Scams in 2025
Amid global Singles Day 11.11 sales campaigns, Kaspersky has issued a warning about rising cases of online scams and phishing targeting shoppers in 2025. Cybercriminals are reportedly creating fake websites that mimic popular e-commerce platforms to steal payment data, confirm fake orders, and drain victims’ accounts.
Shoppers are being lured through emails and online ads linking to fraudulent sites designed to imitate major brands such as Amazon and Lazada. Once users enter their payment information, no goods are shipped, and their funds are lost.
> “Fraud always spikes during major sale events like Singles Day 11.11 because urgency and the lure of discounts cloud people’s judgment,” said Olga Altukhova, Senior Web Content Analyst at Kaspersky. “Always verify that you’re on a legitimate website before entering payment details, avoid unsolicited links, and use a separate card for online purchases. Anyone who suspects exposure on a fake site should contact their bank immediately.”
Kaspersky’s tips for safe online shopping:
• Verify the sender’s authenticity before opening promotional emails or attachments.
• Double-check the website address for typos or suspicious design features.
• Use devices protected with comprehensive security software such as Kaspersky Premium, which includes advanced anti-fraud protection certified by AV-Comparatives.
• Review sellers’ ratings and customer feedback before purchasing.
• Monitor banking statements regularly and report unauthorized transactions immediately.
