e& Egypt Transforms 14 Branches into Certified Green Buildings under EDGE Advanced
e& Egypt, a leading provider of telecommunications and information technology services, has successfully completed the first phase of its green transformation plan by converting 14 of its branches into fully certified green buildings under the EDGE Advanced certification. This achievement makes e& Egypt the telecom operator with the largest network of certified green branches in the Middle East and North Africa.
The initiative aligns with the company’s strategy to lead the transition towards a low-carbon economy, in support of Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development and e&’s global commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions across all its markets by 2040.
Through this milestone, e& Egypt reaffirms that sustainability is a core pillar of its operations and corporate practices. The transformation has already resulted in measurable environmental improvements, including annual energy savings of 377,680 kWh—equivalent to the emissions of 1,000 cars driving over 700 kilometers or the energy consumption of 34 homes for an entire year—as well as annual water savings of 1,771 cubic meters through advanced, water-efficient systems and fixtures.
Commenting on the achievement, Eng. Ahmed Embaby, Head of Corporate Communications and Brand at e& Egypt, said:
> “This strategic milestone reflects our vision that sustainability is not merely a slogan but a measurable practice driven by innovation and impact. We have taken a significant step toward reducing emissions and enhancing resource efficiency, in full alignment with Egypt’s 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy, which places environmental responsibility at the core of its economic and social agenda.”
He added:
> “We take pride in owning the largest certified green branch network in the telecom sector across the region, in collaboration with our partners—EDGE as the certification body and Masader Environmental and Energy Services as the project consultant. This first phase marks only the beginning, as we prepare to launch the second phase soon, expanding our efforts to further integrate green transformation with our digital leadership.”
Notably, EDGE Advanced is one of the world’s most recognized green building certifications, based on rigorous standards for reducing energy, water, and resource consumption. This achievement further solidifies e& Egypt’s position as a key player in embedding sustainability within the regional telecommunications landscape, supporting Egypt’s vision of building a more efficient, environmentally responsible, and sustainable future for generations to come.
